It all started with a square.
The cornerstone of a place no one quite knew what to do with. Instagram came around without a real purpose. It was a blank permission slip. Do with it what you will. Post what matters to you. Or don’t.
In those early days, I don’t think much discretion was involved. Certainly not by me. I loved posting. Loved it. I was proudly operating under a strict “quantity over quality” model.
Because, if I’m honest, I love validation. I feed on it. I’m motivated by it. I use it.
And when you start creating purely for validation, it dilutes the original impulse.
If you’re only doing something to be seen, are you really doing it for yourself?
I don’t know. I lost the plot a long time ago, somewhere between my first tentative posts and the modest little trickle of likes that followed.
